The Stand Up Nebraska Campaign is a grassroots organization focused on making sure that the voices of Nebraskans concerned about the threats to our democracy and Constitution are heard.  We believe that there are 100s of thousands of Nebraskans who share these concerns.  Our challenge is to find each other, and then empower and enable each other to act, both individually and collectively.

With your support, our next project will be to publish 1/4 page newspaper ads in Omaha, Norfolk, Kearney and North Platte newspapers. These ads will include the open letter calling on Congress to defend our Constitution and note that over 2,000 Nebraskans have already endorsed this open letter and invite readers to join us. The ads will include a link to our online endorsement form. The 1/4 page ads in these four newspapers will cost approximately $4,000. Your support is critical if we are to continue this type of grassroots outreach and organizing work.

The Campaign’s initial efforts published newspaper advertisements in Scottsbluff, Omaha, and Lincoln.  These ads featured on an open letter that called on Nebraska’s Congressional delegation to do their jobs and defend our democracy. As originally published, those ads collective included the names of over 1,200 Nebraskans who publicly support this call for Congress to act.  Since then, a total of over 900 additional Nebraskans have endorsed this open letter via our online endorsement form. 

As a follow-up effort, to further highlight our concerns, the Campaign has designed, printed and distributed, all across Nebraska, over 400 yard signs featuring a “Defend Our Democracy & Constitution” message.  Like the “Defend Our Democracy” open letter endorsements effort, the yard signs are an on-going outreach effort.   A summary of our first six months of effort is here, for your review.

The Campaign is a volunteer association, with no staff and no membership.  The Campaign is based on a loose coalition of groups and individuals scattered across Nebraska.  Each project we have undertaken has been funded entirely by concerned Nebraskans, like yourself.  For example, the $6,750 cost of the full-page newspaper ad in Lincoln was paid for by the ad endorsers themselves.   If we are to continue our grassroots efforts to make the voices of concerned Nebraskans heard, we need your support.

We do not see this campaign as a one-shot effort. Defending our democracy will require a sustained effort. We are currently exploring, with our cooperating partners, additional way to make the voices of Nebraskans heard.
