Stand Up Nebraska Campaign
Who we are
We are a group of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents from all across Nebraska who seek to bring clarity of vision and decency of purpose back to state and national politics. We have become increasingly alarmed by the actions of the federal government since the start of the current administration. We fear these actions pose a threat to our constitutional order and the rule of law – the things that have truly made America great.
Our Purpose
Encourage and assist Nebraskans to actively defend democracy and the constitution, so that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people does not lose its meaning.
Our Work
To hold public officials accountable to their oath of office to defend our democracy and the constitution by ensuring that the voices of concerned Nebraskans are heard.
We work in three main areas to accomplish this:
Provide clarity of information and vision around threats to democracy and our constitutional rights.
Encourage and facilitate political action from Nebraskans across the political spectrum and in all parts of the state to demand accountability from public leadership.
Support candidates who will uphold democracy and the constitution, and who align with our principles.
Our Principles
Our group of Republicans, Democrats and Independents holds these principles as essential to our country’s health.
Bipartisanship. Elected officials and political parties should spend their energy passing practical compromise legislation.
Long-term thinking. Political debate should address long term solutions to problems NOT short-term political gains.
Independence. Elected officials should be independent; proposing and supporting measures they believe in based on sound reason not merely personal benefit or party loyalty.
Concern for the whole. Elected officials represent all of us. They should make sure all groups and interests are fairly represented and considered.
Constitutionality and the rule of law. Elected officials should honor their oath of office to defend the Constitution and care not only about the content of policy but also about whether it is pursued in a way that is legal and just.
Civility and dialogue. Elected officials and political parties should model civility, dialogue, and friendliness.
